Financial Policy / Student Responsibility / Insurance Related Concerns

Payment is expected at the time service is rendered. We accept check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and transfers to eligible Emory student financial accounts. Student Health Services does not accept or manage cash transactions. All unpaid charges will be transmitted to the Emory University Student Accounts and Billing to be included on the student's central account. Student Accounts and Billing will bill you for any unpaid charges.

EUSHS participates in the Emory University Student Health Insurance Plan (EUSHIP) and in a number of other major insurance PPOs, including Aetna, Cigna, Humana, and United Healthcare and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield. For a list of our current managed care contracts, click here. We do not participate in Medicare, Medicaid or Tricare affiliated plans. Therefore, we will not bill to these insurances directly.

We are non-participants in other plans that are not listed. However, at your request, we will file for any charges incurred at EUSHS with the patient's primary insurance carrier. If we are non-participants, it is possible that your carrier may not pay for these charges. However, we will provide you with copies of all relevant paperwork you will need to resolve any payment issues with your carrier. You can also access recent bills via Your Patient Portal online.

We will wait an appropriate time period from the date of filing the claim to receive payment. If the charges are unpaid or uncovered after that time, we will transfer the balance to Student Accounts and Billing for billing on the student's account.

Please take note: if your account becomes past due, Emory may withhold transcripts, grades, registration or other University provided services or goods until all past due amounts are paid. Please note that laboratory and radiology service claims are submitted by our Emory Healthcare facilities and partners who are separate entities from Emory University Student Health Services. You will receive a bill for these services from one of these facilities and not EUSHS.

You are responsible for paying the bill in full and obtaining reimbursement from any secondary health insurance company. We will assist you in preparing the necessary forms to expedite repayment of your insurance claim, but we do not coordinate benefits (i.e., file a claim or send in the form) with secondary insurance companies).
